Tum Tum TumTum TUMS!

Mr. CPQ and I are leaving today for a quick weekend getaway (just the two of us!) to New Orleans, so today’s post will be short and sweet as I am busily packing things with stretchy waistbands to get me through the next few days of non-stop eating.

By the way, my house is still occupied to all you would-be burglars.

And my father-in-law knows his way around a rifle.

‘Nuff said.

I absolutely love Cajun and Creole food.  I love the spice, the complexity, the simplicity, and the culture behind it.  Touring New Orleans through its food has been a desire of mine for many, many years.  Since we began planning this trip, I’ve been drooling dreaming of all the places we could go.  Sadly, we only have 48 hours, so a few places have had to drop off the list (I need more meals in a day).

I thought I’d  leave you with a little linky love to let you know some of the places we’re scheduled to go (and if you don’t have vacation plans of your own this weekend, just live vicariously through mine).

For muffalettas, we’re headed to Frankie & Johnny’s.

For dinner, Cochon and August.

Breakfast Saturday morning will be at Cafe Du Monde. This has been on my Bucket List for YEARS!

For po’ boys, we’ll be at the Acme Oyster House.

And on Sunday?  The famed gospel jazz brunch at Commander’s Palace.

There will be bananas foster.

In all their flaming glory.

Next week?

JillianHave a nice day.

  1. Oh. My. Stars. Cafe du Monde. ‘Nuff said.

  2. Laissez la bon temps rouler!

It makes my heart kinda warm knowing you’ll be kickin it in my home state this weeekend.

And btw- if dinner plans fall through anywhere, Jacques Imo’s is our favorite!!!

Have a great time, cuz! 🙂

  3. I love your style 🙂 like me, planning your vacations around food — what could be better?!

  4. I hope you’ll be eating for two.

As in eat something in my honor.

NOT as in, you’re pregnant. Wouldn’t want to get that rumor going around here!

  5. Fun!! I love spicy, flavorful food too.

Can’t wait to hear about your trip.

  6. I’ve always wanted to go to Commander’s Palace! Have a great weekend!

  7. Those names mean nothing to me. Never been, never researched. I know, I’m so not “cultured”.:) But my hubby’s been and if you could also eat a fresh beignet for me (apparently he was beside himself when he tasted one) or just send some FedX since I would hate for you to take on my calories for me (I’m nice like that.)

Enjoy! and take lots of pics…of food.

  8. I am so jealous I can barely stand it!

    Have fun!

  9. Oh man! You’ll be in my state! I’m jealous that you’re going to Cafe du Monde!!! I’ve never heard of the other restaurants. I’ve not been to NO very many times. We always get muffalettas from Central Market. We’ve been told they’re the best there, but I’ve never been to Frankie & Johnny’s. A friend of the hubs smuggles a ton of muffalettas up here when he comes.

    I hope y’all have a blast!

  10. A girl after my own heart … food!
    Have a blast!

  11. I hope it was all you hoped and more. Hugs.

  12. I’ve seen read this post twice and failed to comment…I was distracted by all the linky food goodness, I guess.

I know you’re already back but can’t wait to hear all about it!

  13. Oh, how I heart New Orleans. Also glad to know I’m not the only one who plans a vacation around food.

I wish I had known you were going and I’d have recommended Mother’s Restaurant and the Debris Po’ Boy. Oh my.

    Cafe Du Monde…mmmmmmm!
