Five on Friday

1.  We had a very fun night at the Chick last night with approximately 436,582,534 of our closest friends.    The moms were happy they didn’t have to cook supper, the dads were happy the moms were happy, and the kids were happy that everyone seemed to be in the mood to spring for ice cream cones and milkshakes.

It was for Jesus.  How could I say “no”?

2.  Tommy’s still not feeling great.  He tried going to school yesterday for the first time this week and only made in a couple of hours before calling me to come pick him up.  I had a feeling that might happen and had instructed him to bring home schoolwork and when he got in the car he told me that he had a science project that needed working on and he had selected “Build a 3D model depicting continental drift”.   After six minutes of working on it, he declared his original plan to build it with Legos a bust and asked me to do it for him looked to me for guidance  and I thought that paper mache might be the answer but given the complete and utter mess it might make our time constraints, we might just stick to aluminum foil.

3.  I finally made it to the new Big Lots that recently opened on Capital and will be back despite the fact they had Christmas stuff out in the middle of September.

I did find a couple of things that made it into the cart such as our favorite soap at half the grocery store price.

And Guatemalan coffee that was very tasty.

And I’ll have to go back because the boys were disappointed in the toy aisle and needed to eject after 10 minutes.

4.  I was browsing through the pattern book at Hancock’s the other day and may have found my next sewing project.

You know, for those MC Hammer sort of days.

5. And to end the week on a funny note, I lovingly and cheekily dedicate this video to my mom and dad.

Have a nice day.

  1. Oh, Susan, I shed tears laughing so hard at that video.

And after skipping the gym for more days than I’d like to admit, I may be interested in those Hammer pants. They certainly could help in camouflaging problem areas, don’t you think? I’ll have to watch out for underground bees’ nests, though, in light of an unfortunate incident I had when I stepped on one wearing Hammer pants in the 90s. Something that camouflages that well also can house several angry stinging bees, and I may or may not have removed my pants in the middle of the street while doing a manic bees-in-my-pants dance. So thankful that was pre-YouTube, lest someone might have captured that for posterity.

  2. And here I was thinking of “I Dream of Jeannie”. You need to grow out your ponytail, Sus.

  3. The sad thing is those models make those pants look good. I would make those pants look, well, not so good.

    Have a great weekend.

  4. #4 … I DARE you!!! Do it!

  5. How did I not see you there? Those pants – aaaaaah! Can’t touch this.

  6. It was an awesome encouragement to see so many people – even my roommate’s parents from college showed up and I haven’t seen them in years! Thank you Carpool queen for helping to get the word out, for saying so many wonderful things about me (although I don’t know about being Betty Crocker), and to your readers who may have come because you told them. God Bless, it was the biggest Fundraiser that Chick-fil-A has EVER had! Praise God!
(Amy, she was there after you left I think.)

  7. That video made me laugh and laugh! And somehow miss my dad-ha!

  8. I don’t think my kids knew you could even BUY Ice Dream….they could not figure out how it was that they had ice dream, yet still had their Kids’ Meal toys? That was fun. But I guess now I’m doomed.

  9. Just laughed out loud at the hammer pants. And you know what? I think they’re 2legit2quit. And now I’m laughing out loud again…:)

  10. That video is great. I love how it captures their normal interaction and how cue and funny those two are together.
